This post is all about the updates! I’ve been silent on my blog for over a year and I wanted to provide a little insight as to why. Reality kind of hits you pretty hard sometimes and taking a break from my blog was my reality for the last year.
As I fell more and more in love with blogging, I also found myself comparing what I was doing to others multiple times a day. I would look at bloggers that had hundreds of thousands of followers and feel like there was no way I could ever get to that point. I saw the quality of their images, the sheer amount of clothing/accessories/beauty products that they had and brand promotions that I could only dream of. It all seemed like it was too far out of reach and I felt really discouraged. Not to mention the financial aspects of constantly trying to purchase new things to share. I just felt like I couldn’t keep up.
Fast forward to now, and honestly not much has changed. I still feel like I won’t ever be to the caliber of some of the bloggers I look up to, but now I know that I don’t think I want to be. I don’t really care how many followers I have or if I can get a Like to Know It account. I just want to get back to what I loved so much about my blog in the first place, writing. I love to write, give advice and share my experiences with others and I want to start doing that again.
As far as a life update goes, we’re doing great! Right now, we’re in quarantine due to COVID-19, but all things considered we are really happy! We’ve been married for a year and a half almost, our sweet pup Murphy is still the cutest thing ever, and we both have jobs that we love. We’re in a married bible study group that is growing and getting closer than ever, and our families are doing great! My sister had her first baby, a sweet little boy named Brooks, and my sister in law had her third baby, a cute little chunk name Reid! Our families are growing and we couldn’t be happier!
This last year we have traveled a lot to places like Broken Bow, Oklahoma for my husband’s birthday, Whitefish, Montana for a wedding, South Carolina to visit my sister before and after my nephew was born, and my in-laws lake cabin quite a few times. We love traveling and hope we can do it a bit more once this whole mess with COVID is over. We have been to over 10 weddings in the last year and have danced the night away at them all! We’ve also moved into a townhouse have finally started buying new “adult” furniture to make our place feel more like a home. I’ll be sharing design inspo for sure! I’ve started taking classes at Pure Barre and absolutely love it, and I’m still loving cooking and baking as usual!
My blog may take a bit of a shift and I’m really excited about it! I will be posting more graphics and less actual photos of me. I don’t want to fool anyone into thinking I can be out and buying all new stuff everyday, so I will start making more collages and writing my thoughts about what I’m sharing. I will write about what I’m interested in, what is on my mind, and share things that I’m doing with you. I want to focus less on Instagram and more on this blog.
With all of that being said, welcome back to The Sinclair Style! I hope you’ll enjoy this change of direction!
