So I never really set “New Years Resolutions” because I feel like they are so hard to stick to. But you know what? 2019 is a new year! I’m starting off the new year as a married woman and with that I feel like I want to make positive changes in my life for the betterment of the both of us! So I thought I would share what I am wanting to do this year and hopefully this post will keep me accountable.
First, have y’all watched Tidying Up with Marie Kondo on Nexflix? If not, do it now! Seriously. My husband and I got through the first season so fast and let’s just say, our apartment is on it’s way to being KonMari’ed! Because I work from home, having a mess around can be extremely distracting, but at the same time, having so much to clean can be very daunting. I made a cleaning schedule to help me get through the week that I hope will make the tasks less stressful and in the words of Marie, spark joy! I’ll share it below in case you need some inspo, but I only made it Monday – Thursday so I can have weekends free! Also I have daily tasks so that I can stay on top of everything so I don’t have to do a ton in one day.
Second, I want to read more! I love to read and when I get a book that I love, I read it fast! I’ve already finished one book and it’s less than 2 weeks into the new year! I’m all for book recommendations so leave them below if you have them! I’m reading “It’s Not Supposed to be This Way” by Lysa Terkeurst right now, and so far I’m really enjoying it. I think I want to pick up Crazy Rich Asians next because I watched the movie twice on the way there and back from Thailand and I heard the book was way better!
Third, I want to have a “word” for 2019. I’ve been thinking about it over and over and the word I keep coming back to is Joy. I think it’s because I picked that to be my “word of the year” last year and let’s just say I failed miserably at that. With the stress of the wedding, changing jobs half way through the year, consolidating all of our stuff in to one small apartment, and many other stressors, my year was not filled with as much joy as I wanted it to be. Although this past year had some of my most favorite memories that I will treasure forever (like our wedding and honeymoon) I think I was stressed out way too much. This year, we will be moving and starting our married bible study group so I’m really looking forward to the joyful events to come! We’ve also got 6 weddings so far that we’re so excited about (especially excited to just be guests!) Here’s to hoping that 2019 will be joyful to us all!
So that’s it! My 3 “resolutions” for 2019. I also want to mention how thankful I am for everyone that has stuck around though my up and down blogging journey. I know I’m the worst blogger ever, but I want to make sure I keep this space fun and not stressful so I might not post as much as every other blogger but please know that when I do, it’s something I really love! What are some of your New Year’s resolutions?
