Workwear is something that I love to talk about! As you might recall, I work from home 4 days a week, but when I actually go into the office on Wednesdays we have to dress business causal – leaning more towards business. I know when I got my first internship and had to wear “business” clothes I was overwhelmed. I didn’t want to be stuck in black slacks and blazers everyday and couldn’t imagine wearing a dress and a cardigan either. I thought I would put together a list of the 5 best places to shop for workwear so that I could hopefully help a couple of you!
Gap is amazing! I love their tops, especially this one, and their skinny ankle pants are great too! If you’re looking for that classic style and pieces that will actually last you longer than say Forever 21, Gap is your store! They have killer sales going on all the time so make sure you keep an eye out for those! Right now, they’re having a sale with up to 70% off!
This store is my go to! They always have something classic and timeless and very much my style! If you need classic sweaters, outerwear, vests, or blouses, try J Crew Factory! If you’re local to Dallas, go to J Crew Mercantile at the Shops at Park Lane! I have gotten so many great pieces from here that have remained staples in my closet! My fiancé actually talked me into getting a hot pink coat from there last season that I swore I would never wear….just wait until the winter. I wear it all the time! All outerwear is currently 25% off with the code LAYERUP online only, so I would go ahead and get your fall jacket or winter coat while they’re on sale!
Dress. Pants. This is where I always tell friends to start when they are building their workwear wardrobe. They have every style of pant you could imagine! They have trendy tie waist pants (my favorite), classic slacks, cropped skinny pants, wide leg pants, you name it! Go here if you’re on the hunt for pants and camis! They have the best layering camis for any season! I have the pink one in the photo above that I wore all summer and now I’m going to wear it under cardigans and blazers this fall and winter!
This is such a great store if you’re looking for unique and trendy pieces! Sometimes you have to hunt a little bit, but it’s so worth it! They can be a bit pricey, so check their site for sales! Their sweaters are so great and their blazers are some of my favorites!
Now, let me preface this by saying that I’ve actually never shopped here myself but oh my goodness have I seen so many bloggers talk about their sales! Shelbi does such a great job of covering them so if you’re interested check her out! They have such cute skirts and sweaters that I’m waiting for the next sale and then going on a little spree! I’ve got my eye on this and this right now!
I hope this list was helpful to some of you! Shopping for workwear can be intimidating but the key is to look for pieces that you can wear to the office and then wear outside the office too! Dresses can be worn with open toed heels, skirts can be paired with camis, pants can be paired with a bodysuit, the possibilities are endless!
